To ensure continuous and secure funding for paediatric cancer clinical care and support services.

To ensure integrated programmes and processes that foster availability, accessibility and affordability of paediatric cancer services in Zimbabwe.

Psychosocial support

We don't only provide for clinical care, through our volunteer staff, we hold structured plays with children 4 times a week. Children are also provided with toys, colour and reading books, candy, warm clothing and twice a week they are visited by a clown. We also do follow ups of children who miss they review dates is done weekly

Rita (not real name)

A 1 year old girl from Mazowe who is an only child of teenage parents, diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor in June this year and is responding positively to chemotherapy. Stays with the grandmother at a Norton Farm where she is a farm hand.

The earlier the stage at diagnosis, the better the chances of eradication.

Tawana (not real name)

A 4 year old girl from Mutare diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in June and is currently responding well to treatment. Tawana is the only child of tea plantation farm workers and not yet going to school.

Paediatric palliative care is used in reference to the care of a terminally ill child.

Dexter (not real name)

Details: a 13 year old boy from Lupane with Non-Hodgkins’ Lymphoma, diagnosed last year and is on chemotherapy. The first born in a family of 3. Stays with both parents who are peasant farmers in the rural areas. Will be finishing Grade 7 this year.

Some cancers are more aggressive than others and different children may react to the same illness differently.
